Hi Everyone,
It has been quite a week. We’ve reached our crowd funding target of £1.2m after just over two weeks.
This is a massive achievement – typically crowd funding campaigns in the UK look to raise £50k to £100k, so what we’ve achieved is really quite rare.
POD Point is now the 3rd largest equity fund raise in Seedr’s history, just behind Seedr’s themselves, and Chapel Down (Listed Wine Company) but we’re not stopping there.
Happy Christmas!
As you might know, here at POD Point, we manufacture electric car charging points. It’s our mission to reduce the UK’s carbon emissions by enabling people to charge their cars wherever they are. With our partner, Carbon Footprint, we’re planting trees to offset all the carbon produced from our network of public charge points. We’re already planning to plant 300 trees in 2015 but are on a mission to plant more! We want to reach 1000 before the New Year! That’s why we’ve decided to give away Christmas Tree growing kits for free!
By being part of our ‘Plant a Seed’ campaign, you have the opportunity to plant a tree with your family, sharing a special moment, and knowing that if you look after that seed, you’ll be doing your bit to help absorb the UK’s carbon emissions. These gifts are not presents that you’ll use once and then throw away, they are small sustainable investments that you can make now, and benefit from as they grow. To be part of the Plant a Seed campaign follow the two simple steps below, and get your free tree growing kit!
From everyone here at POD Point, thank you, and Happy Christmas.

Introduction:
Since 2009 we have provided over 6 million miles of electric vehicle motoring through 17,000 charge points and currently offer one of the largest publicly accessible EV charge networks in the UK. The EV revolution is only just getting started though!
UK plug-in vehicle sales are set to rise by 256% year on year and it’s estimated that by 2020 Europe will require 4.1 million charge points! All the big car manufactures – Volkswagen, Toyota, BMW, Nissan, Renault, Volvo, Daimler (Mercedes) just to name a few – are responding to this increase in demand by offering an ever expanding range of electric vehicles.
Hello there. Welcome to part 3 of my blog about making the switch to EV driving and all the joys that it brings. I want to start this week by offering an apology. I said last time that the plan was to take the car for some city driving to see how that pans out. I have to confess that life got in the way. However, we did take the car & the family for a spin to Scotland’s Largest Aquarium™.
As you know, from my last blog post, (I know you read it, don’t lie!!) I have been enjoying the freedom and silence that EV driving brings. With that freedom though comes the need to sometimes charge my car when I am not at home.
Now I don’t live in SE England, nor do I live in a big city in Scotland. I live in what is affectionately known as the armpit of Scotland, West Lothian. We have a grand total of 3 EV charge points. One in a car park 5 minutes from my house, one in Livingston and one in Linlithgow. I haven’t used the one closest to me since it would be cheeky to drive into town when I can walk. Having said that every time I have had to drive through the car park there has been a massive Diesel guzzler 4×4 parked across both bays of the charge point. It’s lucky for me that the range of my Renault ZOE allows me to drive pretty much anywhere I need to without having to charge on the go.
Hello everyone,
It’s great to finally get a chance to write on our blog for the first time!
EV sales grew at 265% this year. At POD Point we’ve already built a fabulous network of EV charge points across the UK, and have provided 6 million miles of EV motoring in the process.
But we need to do more. The POD Point network needs to be everywhere.
