Pod Point has signed a letter of intent with EDF, Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity

Pod Point, who operates the largest network of EV charging points in the UK, today announces they have signed a letter of intent (LOI) with EDF, Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity*.

The agreement aims to explore a variety of opportunities that will transform the EV charging landscape and contribute to a more sustainable future. As we transition towards cleaner energy solutions, the continued collaboration between Pod Point and EDF will focus on three key partnership opportunities:

Flexibility Services

The first component of the partnership marks Pod Point’s ongoing work with EDF to develop opportunities for participation in the UK grid flex market.

Energy Tariffs

Following on from the launch in October of Pod Point’s EV Exclusive tariff powered by EDF that gives new home charging customers access to one of the cheapest EV tariffs in the UK, the two firms are exploring the launch of further EV tariff partnerships. The aim is to simplify the customer experience for EDF and Pod Point customers, and to incorporate flexibility services as part of the tariff offering.

Pod Point to supply EV charging solutions to EDF’s distribution businesses in Europe

The LOI also provides a proposed framework for Pod Point expansion into international markets by supplying EV chargers through EDF subsidiaries into Europe.

Andy Palmer, CEO, Pod Point said: “We’re thrilled to be building on our partnership with EDF in both the UK and through EDF subsidiaries in Europe. This opens up the potential for new tariff partnerships, and opportunities for us to offer customers flexibility services.”

Philippe Commaret, Managing Director of Customers at EDF in the UK, said: “At EDF, we’re determined to help everyone save cash and carbon and transport remains one of the biggest contributors to the UK’s carbon footprint. This new deal with Pod Point will make switching to an EV easier, cheaper, and through increased flexibility services, even greener, ensuring that going green is good for the pocket and the planet.”
