In our latest Employee Spotlight, we have a chat with Homecharge Manager Kim Wadsworth.
Kim leads Pod Point’s expert team of Sales and Account Executives who support our domestic customers. She explains why her love of cars and the environment made Pod Point the right fit for her.
Hi Kim! Tell us why you joined Pod Point.
I love cars and I love the environment. I always wanted to feel like I was making a bit of a difference, no matter how small. I saw the vision statement - ‘travel shouldn’t damage the earth’ - and it just seemed to fit perfectly. However, the motor industry as we knew it wasn’t necessarily known for sustainability, but I wanted to work with cars and I love the environment. So, I went the green way, and Pod Point ticked all the boxes for me.
So what was your journey to Pod Point like?
I actually interviewed for a very different role within Pod Point as a Junior Business Development Manager. Unfortunately - or fortunately, depending on how you look at it - they didn’t think I was right for the role and mid-interview said ‘We’ve got another role that isn’t a role yet, but we know we need it, and we think you’d be good at it, would you like to do it?’. I just said yes because I really wanted to work at Pod Point, so I became the first Homecharge Sales Executive and eventually became the UK Homecharge Manager.
What motivates you to do the work you do?
Without sounding too corny, working at Pod Point motivates me. Working at such a fantastic company is energising, knowing that I’m doing a bit of good every day, regardless of whether it’s a small or big thing. And I think the team motivates me to get up daily, and to be there and to work with them. They are such a wonderful group of characters and it wouldn’t be the same if I didn’t have the team.

What is it like working with multiple teams throughout the company?
I love being able to collaborate with other teams. I love having that contact with other people from other teams, and like understanding what their day-to-day is and how we all intertwine and interlink. The people are what make Pod Point for me, but at times it can be tricky being remote. But in the end, we collaborate well and get the desired result eventually.
What makes the company culture at Pod Point so unique?
Everybody is so different and has such varied interests, and you can go to anybody with a question that you would never normally ask. Here, I can really be myself with my colleagues and I feel like they can be themselves with me as well. I also don’t think the culture has changed now that we work remotely either. It is a little bit different - we don’t have Erik (our CEO) walking around in a Santa outfit at Christmas handing out ice-cream and cake. But the people make the culture, and we’ve managed to keep that going even though we’re not in the same room together.
Has anything changed in your job since moving to working remotely?
The job in particular hasn’t changed at all. I still manage the team and the team does the same job, but I feel like they are more productive and the majority are happier. I myself really enjoy working from home, so for me it’s changed greatly because I have more work and personal life balance.

Amazing! Now it’s time for the fun stuff. We’d like to know:
- If you had to pick one, which EV would you have and why? I would go for a classic conversion! My all time favourite car is the Lancia Delta HF Integrale (martini colours and halogen H7 lights preferred!). I'm completely aware it defeats the point of the car but that's what I'd have if I could have anything!
- If you could do any job in the world, what would it be and why? Something where I go fast, so either an equestrian eventer or a rally car driver.
- If you were going on an EV road trip, which 3 songs would 100% be in your music playlist? Queens of the Stone Age - 3's and 7's
Tribe - Electric Relaxation
Marcus Intalex - Emergency (Dub)
And there you have it! If you’d like to join Kim and the rest of the team at Pod Point, we’re constantly growing our company with talented people like yourself. To find your future role, head over to our careers page and browse our current vacancies. We look forward to working with you soon!
