Land Rover's new variant of its classic Defender arrives in PHEV form. Changing the design for such an iconic car would always be controversial, but the new design is certainly easy on the eye, even in this long wheelbase form. The PHEV packs a fair chunk of battery and pretty sharp performance (the PHEV variant the fastest accelerating of the bunch), but the electric range is not enormous. Inside it's modern Land Rover luxury. The Defender shows yet more promise for the electric future of JLR, but is still reliant on a big old combustion engine.

Connector type and charging rates
