-
Should I choose a Universal or Tethered charger?
-
What's the difference?
Tethered chargers have a cable permanently attached, so you’ll never have to think about where your cable is. You can simply park up and plug in. A universal charger has a socket for you or your visitors to plug a separate cable into.
What's best for me?
As the tethered charger has a cable attached, there's no need to rummage around in your car or garage to find it, which is ideal if you lead a busy lifestyle.
If you already have your own charging cable, you might prefer a universal charger as it's more cost-effective.
For more details please see our product page.
-
What happens if my installation is non-standard?
-
Non-standard charger installations may incur an additional cost, such as groundwork. Once your order is placed, we'll be in touch to better understand your requirements and produce a no-obligation quote for any additional works. If you decide not to proceed, you’ll receive a full refund.
-
How long does it take to install a Pod Point home charger?
-
A standard installation can be completed in as little as 2 hours. For non-standard installation, our team will advise you on what to expect.
For more information please see our How to Prepare for Home EV Charger Installation guide.
-
Can I charge an EV without an app?
-
The Pod Point App ensures you can make the most of your Solo home charger, such as Charge Scheduling and Solar and Grid modes.
However, if you simply wish to plug in and charge, you don't need to link your charger to the Pod Point App. Instead, it will charge whenever you plug in.
-
Can my Solo charger be connected to a 3-pin-plug?
-
It can’t be connected to a 3-pin plug socket; the Solo charger needs to be connected to the main electrical supply so it can charge at a rate of 7kW. One of our Pod Point Experts will give you guidance on how and where the charger will be connected.
To read more on the topic of 3-pin plug sockets vs dedicated home chargers please see our Do You Need a Dedicated Homecharger? guide.
